🌈🐾 Cat Remembrance Day 🐾🌈
Today is Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day.
Deb Barnes of the Cat Writers’ Association (CWA) created the day, and it has now become a worldwide event. This is observed annually on August 28th to honor and remember beloved pets who have passed away. It's a day for pet owners to reflect on the special bond they shared with their animal companions and celebrate the joy they brought into their lives.
When my sweet Princess Tonkin crossed the Rainbow Bridge, I had a vision of her whispering to me: “Mama, we are pretty.” Those words became a kind of blessing, and I created a webpage in her honor.
On this day, I pause to remember not only Tonkin, but also the other beloved companions who shared my life and my heart: StarLight, SnowLion, Chili Pepper, Tabitha, Shamus, Penelope, Shanti, Alaya, Winnie, Morris… quite a long and noble list of whiskered souls.
And as I look at that list, my current muse—Empress Bella Rose—reminds me (with her usual sass) that it must mean only one thing: my mother is old. Very, very old. Ancient-relic old. 👑🐱
Each of these felines still walks with me, pawprints shimmering across memory and dream. And soon, in my upcoming book PussyCat Messages, I’ll be sharing their stories as they now reside in the Ethereal Realms—a place where love never fades and every purr echoes forever.
